Favorite Channels in Live Guide - Hulu, Mobile Platform
Goals
While Hulu has made many strides in building a modernized Live TV service on top of its streaming platform across all types of devices (Web, Mobile, Living Room), the product experience still lacks some key features, such as managing recording options and favoriting channels within the Guide. The cable audience considers these features to be an essential part of watching Live TV. To satisfy their expectations and evolve the Live product to be more attractive, Hulu has created an initiative known as, Cablestakes. This project addresses one of the first roadmap items which is to provide Live viewers with a way to create a personalized line-up of favorite channels from within the Guide.
Outcome
Across all platforms, Hulu Live viewers will finally have the ability to add channels to their “Favorites” filter from the context menu of any content tile or programming cell. A heart icon will appear next to the favorited channel logo when viewed in the All or Recents filter. This long-awaited feature will allow viewers to quickly access their favorite channels in one place. This feature will help make Hulu’s Live service more attractive to traditional cable viewers. Once this rolls out, viewers will be greeted with an educational modal letting them know that they can now add channels to their Favorites filter in the Guide.
